Hi All -
Yesterday and today Apple canceled all of our outstanding BuyForMe orders for iPads.
Over the past weeks, we have worked extremely hard at circumventing the hurdles that Apple put in place and made many iPad fans outside the USA happy. Apple must have figured us out and canceled all our outstanding BuyForMe orders. Apple really does not want that Apple fans outside of the USA get their hands on an iPad.
We will contact impacted customers and fully refund the Buy For Me order. Also we will not be talking any new Buy For Me orders.
Not a happy bundling day
Andre & the BundleBox team

Very sad to hear this, was hoping the orders would be despatched soon. As a UK developer it’s a nightmare not being able to get access to test my apps!

Did any of the 21st April orders get though ?

Hey Chris – no, Apple canceled all
April 29, 2010
(sniffle) Thanks for trying.

gits

Unfortunately this means that I’ll have to pay way over the odds for a grey import (which, despite Apple’s efforts are widely available here in the UK).

Did my last post get deleted?
I was asking about whether Bundlebox were going to cover the exchange rate difference to ensure a fair refund. It could easily cost cost us £20-30 not to our orders fulfilled.
April 30, 2010
Damn you Apple…damn you. From now on, we’re on to Oranges.
April 30, 2010
Hey Russell – we have refunded the full amount we charged, including the handling fee. Have you spoken to your credit card company and told them it is a refund?

Hi Andre,
Just got off the phone to the bank and they say it is down to Bundlebox. You should have an internal currency rate that reflects the market/spot rate needs of your business. Card tranactions are at a predetermined level and as you are charging in US$ and then back to GBP it is your risk.
I already had one order that was cancelled that has cost me £30 because of the different exchange rate even though there was only 30 minutes between debit and credit and now it seems the same thing is going to happen again.
I have also just checked and the credit isn’t showing. I appreciate Apples decision is the root of this, but you should still make sure that your customers aren’t paying (albeit indirectly) for services they aren’t receiving form the buy for me service
At a conservative estimate it’ll have cost me £50-60 to have BundleBox not deliver anything to me … not a good experience I am sure you’ll agree.

I’m not sure how classy it is of Bundlebox to have lots of “ooh I can order an iPad” tweets on their front page, since it’s obviously a moderated feed these should probably be filtered out.
April 30, 2010
@Russels – I didn’t order one through Bundlebox and have no interest on either side of the fence, but I cant believe you weren’t aware of the risks at the time of the order.. you took the risk, on this occasion you lost out.
Not sure why it’s for bundle box to refund exchange rate adjustments.
April 30, 2010
Hey Channon – fair point, we’ll tone that down
April 30, 2010
Hey Russell –
We are taking payments in dollars and made the refund in dollars. We refunded the exact, total amount that we charged you. We do not exchange into pounds or any other currency at any point. It is your credit card company that does the exchanging.
I am in total agreement with you that it is not fair that you end up paying the difference in buy & sell rate + exchange service fee of your credit card company for a refund. We will look into this to understand how we can resolve this. For now it seems that the only one who benefited from our “None” transaction is your credit card company. Could you send us via the message center the name of your credit card company and the details of the charge and the refund? We’ll pick this up next week and will get back to you
Andre

Sounds good Andre … As IsaidI do understand that Apple moved the goal posts on you.
Re the comment about risk made the transaction was made in the UK with the buy for me service in £ … I accept there is a currency risk in some cases, but not when it it a uk service that ended up not being able to deliver their side of the contract.

Hi, what about accessories for the ipad? can I sill purchase these from Apple via your service?
May 2, 2010
Would you (or Apple) still accept order for iPad accessories (e.g. cables, Camera kit, dock etc)? Or would this be stopped as well do you think?
(I got iPad via eBay – went very smoothly).
May 3, 2010
I’ve got my iPad (from eBay unfortunately) but can i buy the camera connector, case etc. from Apple US and use bundle to get it to the UK?
i.e. are they stopping all sales from Apple.com or only iPad’s?
David

Hey David, Charles & Huw – yes, we are taking buy for me orders for ipad accessories and other Apple products. Apple has only blocked the Buy For Me orders for ipads.
May 4, 2010
Is it possible for us to purchase it directly from Apple and have your adress as the receiver?
Cheers
Nik
May 4, 2010
Hey Nik – yes, some Bundleers have been successful trying this. However, Apple has also canceled some of them – Andre
May 4, 2010
Hey Andre – Is there any way to circumvent this by not having Bundlebox in the address or have Apple clocked this regardless?
May 5, 2010
For what it’s worth , after Apple cancelled by Bundlebox order the refund was less but I phoned my Credit Card company and they refunded the difference.
I then placed an order with Apple directly and it shipped to my BUndlebox fine. So today I received my 64gig iPad 3g!

Excellent Neil!
May 5, 2010
Hey Tai – It is a bit trial and error. You can omit “BundleBox” from the address, but you should put your BundleBox number
May 10, 2010
Congratulations to Bundlebox …
Well done the issues above have all been sorted out promptly and well … You can best judge a company, nit when things are going well, but rather when they don’t.
Thanks for a great response and service … I have already been raving to friends on the service seen from you chaps.
