The iPad has been one of the most exciting purchases picked up by a host of our Bundleers from the USA this year before its Worldwide release. A fantastic product in itself, there are also a few super-cool accessories to go with it. This week we met up with Lynette Webb who recently snapped up a Dodo case for her iPad.
Lynette Webb our Bundleer of the Week!

Lynette Webb our Bundleer of the Week!

Hi Lynette, you used to live in the USA, do you miss the shopping?
I used to live in the US and since moving away always regretted not having the same wide selection. Until I found BundleBox it was a real hassle to shop from US online as I had to rely on kindness of friends to forward things on or store them until I visited. Now it’s great to be able to have access to US stores direct.
What have you bought most recently?
I have bought a Dodo case $59.95. I heard about it in a blog article and fell in love at first sight!
Dodo Case for iPad

Dodo Case for iPad

Tell us about it.
It protects the iPad if you’re carrying it around, and also acts as a stand if you want to prop it up. The case I got from Apple felt really rubbery and I didn’t like it.

The Dodo case feels like you’re holding a book, it’s much more tactile. I got the ipad in the first place so that when I’m  online at home I’m not stuck in front of a laptop, just like all day at work. Having this new case enhances the difference.
What is the history behind the Dodo?
It is made by an old-fashioned bookbinder who was on the verge of going out of business, and now thanks to the popularity of Dodo cases has recovered and even been able to hire more staff!

What is on your USA shopping list next?
No, nothing specific yet but am sure it won’t be long!
How have you found using BundleBox?
The service so far has been stellar. Fast replies to questions, and they’ve gone out of their way to help. Eg, a few months back I needed to get a replacement glass beaker to go with my UK bought kitchenaid coffee grinder after I’d broken it. Kitchenaid repairs in UK couldn’t help so I called kitchenaid in US. They had them in stock but wouldn’t ship internationally, nor even accept nonUS credit card. Luckily BundleBox rescued the situation by calling them and placing order on my behalf.
What are your shopping hints and tips?
Shopping during sale season can yield some amazing bargains from big US stores, but the best part is being able to buy from niche specialists, most of whom don’t ship internationally. Avoid heavy or bulky things so as to cut down on postage fees. Try and combine purchases into batches so that they can get sent together in combined packaging. The BundleBox repackaging service is especially worth it when you do this…
Thanks Lynette,

Happy Bundling!

Our Bundleers are always shipping something interesting from the USA. This week we met Bundleer Kam who came across the Fitbit on a USA website and just had to have it!
Kam Lagan our Bundleer of the Week

Kam Lagan our Bundleer of the Week

Hi Kam, How long have you been shopping from the USA?
I have bought many items from the USA over the past 10 years. I am rather impulsive and impatient which makes it nearly impossible not to buy something from the USA if I want it immediately - and in some cases cheaper….which is odd…
Where did you hear about the fitbit?
I heard about Fitbit through a review on Endgadget.
The Fitbit

The Fitbit

What does it do?
It monitors your activities be it walking, being sedentary or sleeping.  It will calculate the number of steps you have taken in  a day, approximate the miles you have travelled on foot and determine how many calories you have burnt. The website that accompanies the Fitbit allows you to input your diet for the day and help provide more accurate information.
All of these statistics are approximate and there are many experts that argue the metrics are nonsense and that the technology is flawed.  But the key point I feel they miss is that the individual has taken an interest in trying to control their fitness.
The Fitbit

The Fitbit

How will you incorporate it into your workout?
There is not much to incorporate.  All I need to remember is to carry it with me.  The clip is really discrete and requires you doing nothing but carry it with you.  When you go to bed, you need to press a button to activate the sleep monitor and again when you wake up, but these are minor interactions.
Tell us about the first time you used it.
The first time I used it I was surprised at how little interaction was necessary.  I also loved the way the associated software that interrogates and makes sense of the data the little clip has collected - can be as complex or simple as you like.
How have you found the BundleBox service?
I found the Bundlebox service surprisingly easy to use.  The order I made was delayed by months due to the manufacturer and Bundlebox did the chasing for me.  BundleBox acted on my behalf and would periodically inform me on progress which I found great!
What advice would you give to those starting to shop from the USA for the first time. Any tips/advice?
Apart from the electrical problems I have discussed above I would consider the support issues on various products you buy from the USA. Assuming you are buying goods from the USA because they are not available in your region, you would need to question why they are not available in your region. For example, in the case of mobile phones, make sure the bandwidth is correct for your region.  Clothes are also difficult as they are rated against a slightly different sizing system to Europe.
Thanks Kam,
Happy Bundling.

Shopping from the USA should be fun and simple. This week we got together with Julie Gallagher, a seasoned stateside shopper who is quick to spot a cool new product then have it shipped pronto at the best possible rates.

Julie Gallagher Our Bundleer Of the Week!

Julie Gallagher Our Bundleer Of the Week!

What do you think is unique about shopping in USA?

I think sheer choice and variety within existing brands that we get here but with limited options is what makes shopping in USA so unique. There are always more choices/colours/flavours of products and models etc that you just don’t see at home and of course, even if they do arrive here eventually the states will always have had it first!

Do you think you get more interesting products and more value?

I def think that in some industries you get more interesting products and new or innovative ideas not seen before in uk or Europe. Probably due to the sheer size of the country they inevitably have more companies producing more options of the same product or category of item. They always seem to be one step ahead when it comes to bringing out new versions of existing products or the latest advancement of current technology. Not always of course but quite frequently! As far as value goes they are usually cheaper, regardless of the currency conversion and even incorporating postage or shipping/tax costs you’ll still often save money buying products you can find at home, in the USA.

What have you bought before from the USA?

I’ve bought a wide variety of different products including kitchen appliances, utensils, saucepans and gadgets especially bakeware and other home ware goods.

What do you think about the bundlebox service?

I think BundleBox is a dream come true! Other sites have offered similar services but none match the full package they offer. All angles are covered from the moment of purchase to the calculation of shipping and customs taxes etc. The option to have things sent separately or as a bundle is brilliant and it’s also a really easy way to send things to friends and family stateside.

What have you got your eye on to buy next?

Next on my list are some beauty gadgets from blissworld.com as they’re so much cheaper and also some really good jeans by J. brand!
